Thank you to all of you who contribute so fantastically to creating our healthcare system—to those of you who choose this for us.
With a camera, over 40 workers at Haukeland Univercity Hospital have been immortalized. They never asked to be photographed; it was the photographer, filled with awe, who did so, thereby stealing their valuable time.
I believe most people would agree that we need all our societal roles, yet we rarely feel life more intensely than when we truly need our healthcare personnel. When a hundred problems suddenly become one, the people we meet in the healthcare system have become everything.
Choosing to work with people is a choice of values—values that do not arise by themselves, values we cannot take for granted.
That is why this exhibition was created.
Thank you for being here!

Selected works from Thank You!

Christopher Kalhagen Bjerkvig – Chief Anesthesiologist
«– Proud to be an important link in the larger chain that ensures the patient’s well-being.»

Siv Øvsthus – Hospital Clown
When you make a difference. «– The colorful clown peeks into the dimly lit room. You hear the inhale and the mother’s voice: ‘Look there!’ That’s when anything can happen between them and us clowns. The brain switches off logic, and emotions are allowed to surface. There’s gold in that moment.»

Espen Gubberud – Vascular Surgeon and Department Head
«It’s a privilege to be at the forefront of what I do. But none of this would have been possible without the entire team around me.»

Julie Tegle Håland – Hospital Porter
“We’re not just drivers for the patients—more often than not, we also become a companion to talk to along the way.”
“Thank You” will be on display at Lille Lungegårdsvann, right in the heart of Bergen, throughout July 2025.
